Highlights from the Zumper Report
Rent growth in big cities on the West Coast has been sluggish since bottoming out at the beginning of 2021, but San Diego has bucked that trend by posting a 31.3 percent rise year-over-year. As a result, San Diego has leapfrogged San Jose and Los Angeles to become the nation’s fifth most expensive city.
Zumper’s National Rent Index tallied yet another all-time in April, but more importantly, it showed that rent in 2022 is rising almost twice as fast as it did through the same period in 2021. This is more evidence that 2021’s astonishing rent growth may be the norm for the foreseeable future.
