Condolences to the Smith Family
December 20, 2017
PFAR sends its sincerest condolences to the family of David Lee Smith .
David Lee Smith passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the age of 78.
Dave was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from El Monte High School in 1958, he graduated from California State University Los Angeles, majoring in Physical Education and Mathematics. He worked at the Los Angeles and Pasadena YMCA’s as Executive Director/Professional Director.
He was also a successful Real Estate Broker in Pasadena for 39 years.
Dave was passionate about serving the community and helping others. He was President of the Pasadena Lions Club, Pasadena Y’s Men’s Club, Pasadena Quarterbacks Club, and YMCA Alumni. He served on the Boards of the Girls Club of Pasadena, Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, Latino Peace Officers Association, International Footprint Association, American Cancer Society, Pasadena Board of Realtors, and the Pasadena Police Department Citizens Police Academy.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Jane, brother, Roy of Needles, sister, Arlene Karnbach of Ontario, his two sons, David of Apple Valley and Scott (Jennifer) of Alta Loma, daughter, Tracy Weldon (John) of Palos Verdes Estates, and 12 grandchildren. He leaves behind many friends and family, as well as his two beloved dogs, Lucky and Lola.
Dave will be dearly missed by too many to count.
