Los Angeles County has unveiled a new online dashboard to track rebuilding progress in Altadena and Pacific Palisades, two communities heavily impacted by the January brush fires.
The fires destroyed thousands of structures and displaced numerous residents. As of now, four building permits have been issued for properties affected by the Eaton Fire in Altadena, while no permits have been issued for the Palisades Fire, according to the county’s new tracking site.
The dashboard also includes data on zoning reviews submitted and approved, and will eventually reflect the number of construction projects completed.
Earlier this month, Altadena residents expressed frustration over the slow progress—highlighted by the fact that it took nearly three months for the first permit to be approved. LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger called the delay “totally unacceptable.”
In response, the Board of Supervisors voted to streamline the process by establishing a unified permitting authority, aimed at accelerating rebuilding efforts—particularly in Altadena.
