Businessman Leo Kryss is suing real estate firm Douglas Elliman over the $79 million sale of his mansion in Miami’s exclusive Indian Creek Village. Kryss claims he was misled during the sale and agreed to a price reduction based on false information.

In the lawsuit, Kryss alleges he asked Douglas Elliman CEO Jay Parker if Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was the buyer, as Kryss suspected since Bezos had recently purchased the neighboring property. According to Kryss, Parker assured him that Bezos was not behind the offer. Relying on this information, Kryss agreed to lower the price of the home by $6 million from its original listing of $85 million, ultimately selling for $79 million.
Kryss believes the property would have been far more valuable to Bezos, as it would allow him to combine it with his adjoining estate. The lawsuit claims that without Parker’s misleading statements, Kryss would not have reduced the price.
The mansion, a 7-bedroom, 11.5-bathroom estate, was sold through Kryss’ company, Tendencia Asset Management. Kryss originally bought the property for $28 million in 2014. Bezos, the world’s second-richest person, has not commented, and Douglas Elliman has declined to respond to the lawsuit.
